Bio

Alanna Fero (MA, LSC) maintains a highly successful practice providing life path and business coaching, career management, leadership development, and recruitment services to local and international clients. She is also a popular keynote speaker, television and radio commentator, and author of the well-reviewed book, Love Made Visible: Values-Driven Approaches to Work/Life, its title taken from the Khalil Gibran poem which says that “To labour with love is to know life’s inmost secret / Work is love made visible.”  Love Made Visible offers readers the key to unlocking the secrets of rewarding life path: earning a good living pursuing work you enjoy enough to do for free.

Devoted to principles of self-actualization and Integral Life Practice (with much credit given to the inspirations of Abraham Maslow and Ken Wilber), Alanna loves leveraging the power of interpersonal relationships, provocative dialogue, metaphysical principles and good strategy to improve people’s experience of their lives. She has become known for integrated approaches which create awareness and abundance in equal measure, demonstrating that there is no conflict between deep spiritual connection and material success. Her next book, Many Hands Make Light Work: Soul-Driven Approaches to Making a Living and a Life, is in writing stages now and details stories of the “callings” to a higher purpose for their work/lives that so many of her clients have felt and followed. Chapters also explore her own experiences with following intuitive guidance, including walking the Camino de Santiago, a Pilgrim’s journey and literal metaphor for higher consciousness of life path.

Alanna proudly calls dozens of socially responsible and values-driven (triple and quadruple bottom line) companies among her clients, and takes great joy in supporting their leadership journeys and helping them to create workspaces where people love to come to play.

Chances are you might have seen Alanna doing an interview or taking live audience calls on CityTV, CTV, CBC, The Knowledge Network or WTN in recent years, or heard her regular appearances on the Simi Sara Show. She has been covered or quoted dozens of print and online outlets, including Maclean’s, The National Post, The Montreal Gazette, The Vancouver Sun, The Calgary Herald, The Ottawa Citizen, The New Brunswick Business Journal, Shared Vision Magazine, FOXBusiness, The Examiner, Yahoo HotJobs, and Monster.com. More and more people can also report having heard one of Alanna’s “Soul of Work” and “Generation Hybrid” keynotes for audiences from 10 to 2500 or participated in one of her interactive workshops for corporations and professional associations.

In 2009, Alanna was the only coach in Canada to make the Top 20 in the Women’s Television Network’s “Expert Search” and in 2010, she received five separate nominations for the Women of Worth “Spirit, Success and Soul” award. Since 2011, her focus has been on refining the concept of “Spirit Venture,” what she believes to be the deeper extension of social venture, an intersection of karma and commerce, dharma and drive, enterprise which emerges from the soul and which creates abundance for itself and all those it touches by basing its decisions on a call to service of the highest good. Watch in 2012 for an even greater integration of spirit and strategy, metaphysical and material, as her private visioning work with one-on-one clients expands to workshops and larger venues with the Intuitive Strategies series.

Alanna defines her mission in language both sweeping in its scope and simple in its focus on integrity: to create spaces, strategies, tools and relationships which joyfully and vibrantly support self-actualizing individuals and progressive organizational cultures to:

  • work in innovative, conscious, and loving connection to self and others, putting awareness into action
  • experience work/life, business and career, as integrative extensions of their highest visions for themselves and the world
  • experience achievement, success and abundant reward as the natural outflows of intimately knowing what matters and taking action in alignment with that knowing
  • do good in the world and do well for themselves at the same time
  • . . . and to lead on this path not by soliciting followers but rather by going first.

Alanna makes her home in Vancouver, Canada, and spends her personal time engrossed in hiking, travel, meditation, artistic play and preparing gourmet whole foods.
